Controlling Alcohol Consumption

Make no mistakes about it, alcohol is a poison and thus it is imperative that in the event that you do choose to consume that, that you do so at a controlled, carefully tracked and accountable manner so as to ensure that you can enjoy its benefits without placing yourself at any degree of impending danger.

There has been a significant quantity of research conducted into the long term effects and consequences of alcohol misuse and the conclusions reached have been quite sobering indeed. Alcohol plays a significant contributing factor in a variety of serious health complaints like liver and kidney failure as well as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and strokes and each the health ailments affect not just the drinker, but also the health system as a whole.

In Britain alone it is variously estimated that alcohol finally ends up costing the NHS (National Health Service) #3 billion to give care for people with both severe and chronic health ailments concerning alcohol.

Part of the dilemma is that many of us have been led to believe that in tiny amounts, alcohol is healthful and therefore good for us. It must be noted that these projected values are VERY little, and are required to be absorbed over a prolonged time period in a controlled way rather than binge drinking.

Furthermore, it would seem that the health benefits associated with alcohol relates only to certain types of alcohol and in addition, only to particular kinds of people too. Thus, to utilize the supposed health benefits of alcohol for a pretext and permit to then consume it is neither fair nor reasonable in the circumstances.

As briefly touched upon before within the guide, among the potential effects of chronic alcohol ingestion, where the ingestion exceeds the amounts safely suggested by medics, is liver failure. Specifically, chronic alcohol abuse may lead to the evolution of what is called "cirrhosis" of their liver, and this also describes the procedure whereby the liver becomes damaged and scarred over a time period.

Why is this so about is the fact that the ordinary, normal cells of the liver will gradually but surely be killed off because of the toxic nature of the alcohol that's being frequently ingested and in their place, fibrous tissue will start to form. This approach is permanent and therefore cannot be reversed.

When the damage to the liver caused by the cirrhosis procedure reaches a certain extent, the individual will have to then receive a liver transplant differently, they will die. Without being overly political or dramatic, if there is a single fact about liver failure you need to know, then it might be this: it's a slow, agonising and incredibly cruel death.

The liver is the filtering unit of the body, removing toxins and impurities from the food we eat and drink so the body is able to use it safely and efficiently. Together with the liver failing to reach its most basic function, this means that the body will find its various functions shutting down concurrently.
